Yet too see a good 2-pass Xvid encoding guide(help)
 

Hi everybody, well i've been googling around trying to find a good guide for encoding in 2-pass Xvid, but i haven't found one yet. So my question is if anybody of you guys know of a good guide which will show me how to get really good quality movies in "decent" sizes.

For the resolution and keeping it good quality, a high bitrate is quite essential - a minimum of 4500. Using two-pass encoding helps a lot too.

If your movies are the regular resolution (800x600 or less), then a bitrate around 1700 should be ok.

The rule of the thumb is that the more fast and moving motion you have, the bigger your bitrate should be.

I've done some experimenting with x264 and all the options, you can use some rather low bitrates (hadnt gotten my widescreen back then), 1280x1024 with plenty of movement can look good at 2 mbit and such.. the encoding is really slow with the options maxed though, like 5 fps at most and it doesn't work with .avi
