Delete my videos please

Hi,

This is a request for WCM to please delete all of my videos from their servers.

Reasoning?

Im disappointed with several things about WCM....
  • Everyone says that youtube kills a lot of the quality of the final "product", WCM does this a hell of a lot more than youtube
  • WCM likes to charge a premium subscription for a service that is easily outperformed by youtube. (who download's WoW machinema these days? especially when you can stream at HD Quality)
  • WCM's "HQ" setting is barely as good as youtube's 460p setting, yet people are paying for this?!
  • As an author, once your content is uploaded, you have very little, to no control of your content... want it deleted? you have to post on their support forums and hope a moderator catches it.
  • Want to upload a small part of the final product to show a friend or part or the community? with WCM you have to wait for up to 24 hours for the content to be approved. youtube is near enough instant.
Until better support for higher quality video's is their (especially considering you charge a premium service....), More control over who can and cant view video's, and their is a significant change to make WCM a better solution that youtube, I will no longer be using your service.

Removed videos.

We will look in to the things you mentioned here and see if we pull something out of it. I do agree that sometimes our HQ quality can improve and that is somethign we're working with.

"Everyone says that youtube kills a lot of the quality of the final "product", WCM does this a hell of a lot more than youtube"
- Encoding optimization is something we always try to improve. If the author is not happy with the stream we provide we support Youtube embedding and setting the default stream.

"WCM likes to charge a premium subscription for a service that is easily outperformed by youtube. (who download's WoW machinema these days? especially when you can stream at HD Quality)"
- We do not charge for streams on WCM. The latest movies come with free HD streams.

"WCM's "HQ" setting is barely as good as youtube's 460p setting, yet people are paying for this?!"
- When we just started doing free streaming the stream was not HD. It was 480p (hence the name HQ). Since about 6 months ago all streams are 720P HD and free.

"As an author, once your content is uploaded, you have very little, to no control of your content... want it deleted? you have to post on their support forums and hope a moderator catches it."
- This used to be true. Just before christmas we added a few new options for authors. You can now request it to be deleted on the movieedit page and the moderators get notified instantly, also you can now turn of ratings/comments on your movie and also change the title of the movie until it has been released. We are adding more similar stuff and opening it up more in the near future to give the author more controll. I agree that we have been way too restrictive.

- I totally agree with you. This will also change in the near future. We will allow quick submitting movies to make them almost instantly available (within 30 minutes) on the site. They will not be posted on the front page until they meet a certain critera though. For example if it has been uploaded by a upstanding author or the movie has ained popularity quickly or it has been screened by a moderator. This way we can avoid getting ads by gold sellers, getting midget p0rn or movie with appauling quality.
