Torrent download

There is a new download option available through the Torrent link in movieview!

Leave feedback here to let me know how it works for you

Seppo 10-24-2006 12:29 PM

Thank you

Hentai 10-24-2006 03:03 PM

We need to see how many seeders and leechers are with that file, that would be usefull! :D

by the way, nice work :)

Uzbeki 10-24-2006 04:13 PM

All torrent files have a minimum of 3-4 seeders. We will most probably add this feature down the road though :)

dasud 10-24-2006 10:42 PM

Completely rowdy idea. An alternative to Filefront is always welcomed.

Djshu667 10-25-2006 01:13 AM

Very nice addition... I can't understand why anyone would be against it, beats the heck out of every other source with the average of 250+ KB/s rates.

Onlis 10-25-2006 02:07 AM

Sounds like a good idea, but I'm completely noob @ torrent. Tried to use it once but never succeeded. xD

Valamir 10-25-2006 02:35 AM

Well, the Torrent FAQ could possibly help.

dasud 10-25-2006 02:40 AM

I was getting a crazily good 450kb/s download off the torrents, with only 4 seeds.

Whoever implemented this just took a hell of a lot of the headache out of downloading quality movies.

With 4 seeds per file though, doesn't that put strain on your resources? At least, that's what I thought you had the premium accounts for.

baloo 10-25-2006 06:51 AM

Thank you all for the possitive feedback, I'm overwhelmed

The torrents does put some strain on the resources, this is a test and subject to changes. Torrents are meant to be an alternative to free mirrors, such as filefront. The good thing is that you can all help to put less strain on our servers by seeding the most popular movies :top:

We can't provide torrents for all movies, where premium always will have a direct link.

Daghur 10-28-2006 05:56 PM

Does any "servers" seed all the files aviable there?

The Bum 10-28-2006 08:04 PM

This is nice :)

Yes, all the torrents have seeding servers.

MaceMan 10-29-2006 01:42 AM

Very nice feature, thanks for adding it.

Demme 10-30-2006 09:21 PM

I like torrents, however I get the same error with all torrents from Warcraftmovies with microtorrent (uTorrent).

"Invalid torrent file" Is it just me? I'll try with some other client..

Demme 10-30-2006 09:24 PM

Tried with Bitcomet, no luck. The torrent files seem a bit small to me (1.66kb) compared to other torrents i have that are around 15-30kb

All clients can't handle the way our torrents work,
I'm using Azureus myself, really recommend that client.
I know BitComet 0.7 to work with many users. And I've seen uTorrent around but far away from as popular as the other two mentioned.

The torrent (metainfo) files gets smaller when there is less files (one movie) and bigger "chunks" of hashes for that file.
Make sure you have a compatible and updated browser that downloads these torrents aswell, IE or Firefox for example

I haven't got an error myself yet but keep the reports coming

Quazimodo 10-30-2006 11:28 PM

Torrents give greater speed, as alot of people download movies over torrents it'll go faster for others to! This is great for the site!

dasud 10-30-2006 11:34 PM

I'll secondarily confirm the working status of Azureus. http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

Torrents are a much much much better alternative to Filefront.

The Bum 10-31-2006 12:30 PM

It works for me with bitcomet

T-4 10-31-2006 01:08 PM

Cool to have this, I mean if Blizzard uses BT to send patches, why not.

Quazimodo 10-31-2006 02:20 PM

It works with BitLord

MaceMan 11-07-2006 01:13 PM

I personally use Azureus, works great, love the feature.

Quazimodo 11-17-2006 09:00 PM

Opera has a built in Torrent downloader now. However is not completly compatible with our site yet. We are looking into it to see if there is anything we can do on our part to fix this issue. Please use an external client for now, such as Azureus or BitComet.

The download of the torrent file failed, try again. And use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to be sure it will be downloaded correctly

Cerf 11-27-2006 03:37 PM

Thanks for help!
I've downloaded this torrent with IE7, Maxthon 1.5.8, Opera 9.02, Download master and always got this errors, but when i tried to dl with Mozilla Firefox it worked fine :)

Demme 11-27-2006 10:17 PM

I still can't get it to work, tried downloading the torrent with both Firefox and I.E... I've tried both BitComet 0.7 and Bittorrent 5.0.1

Which movie are you trying and what's the error?

Demme 11-28-2006 10:38 AM

"Critadinftw.wmv.torrent is not a valid torrent file (not a valid bencoded string)

http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=32000

baloo 11-28-2006 10:42 AM

Are you behind a proxy?
With Firefox + azureus that file works for me

Demme 11-28-2006 11:08 AM

Well all other torrent files work fine, only the ones from your site doesn't work... and no i'm not behind a proxy.

Valamir 11-28-2006 02:50 PM

If you do not have port forwarding configured properly you may have this issue. If you do not have a compatable torrent client you will have an issue like this. Perhaps you should read our Terrent FAQ.

Try saving the file on the harddrive instead of picking "Open with ..." option in the browser,
then try to load that file in your torrent client and see what happens.

If it's still not working, e-mail me that torrent to: [email protected]

Hentai 12-10-2006 07:46 PM

any news in trying to implement how many seeders and downloads are avaliable per movie? :)

Valamir 12-10-2006 11:31 PM

Since we host the torrent for only the first two weeks after the movie is released I don't see this happening, but I may be wrong since I am not the one making this possible.

Since we have permanent seeds (meaning there will always be someone uploading the movie on the torrent) we're not planning on this feature anytime soon. The torrents can be slow the first hour until it has spread, showing only 2 or 3 seeds on the download page wont help it spread any faster :)
