It seems to be a wellkept secret
Anyhow, here's how I do it in After Effects: basically copy your model, put it in a lower layer, fill it black, set opacity lower, blur the layer slightly and resize/reform the layer so that it fits with how you want the shadow to look - ofc all this becomes more logical once you've done the first steps !
