I can't agree with this "pushing the rating to make it fairer" thing. For example what you said, godliest.

You would rate a movie 1/5/5/5, but you would like to somehow give it a higher a/v rating, due everything else was excellent. 1/5/5/5 would mean an a/v rating of 4. If everybody on wcm.com would know how to rate properly, 4 would be a really good rating.

The problem is, that those who give a/v ratings of 5 and 1 are destroyed the whole a/v rating and also the a/v rating of each criterion. I don't feel bad to give a 1/5/5/5 rating or something similar, because that's what it is made for (as long as people know how to use it..), and if everyone rates the right way the author will see which of his criterions has the lowest a/v rating. By that he knows what he has to improve the next time he makes a movie.
