There has been issues a few days back from our provider in the US resulting in less bandwidth and more load for the other servers. We're also looking into how to improve speeds around peak hours where some users experience bad speeds.

Actually on ADSL, you can have up to 8Mbit downstream if your connection doesn't exceed 1.5Km from the ISP end point.
On ADSL2 you can have up to 12Mbit and on ADSL2+ you can have up to 24Mbit
