I'm new to movie making and in the past 2 movies i've made, i had to use music from a CD because sony vegas and windows movie maker can't use mp4 songs. Am i missing something or can you just not use itunes music?

Your best 2 options are to either download a program to convert it, or burn them onto a CD and then rip those back to your computer. In their current format, they are protected files. If you choose the second option, make sure you do not burn them with a Windows program. Most songs remain protected when some CD burning programs such as Windows are used.
