Vimeo To Ban “Game Videos”
Main Source: http://vimeo.com/blog:140
Secondary Source: http://blogcraftworld.blogspot.com/2...s-7232008.html "The Vimeo staff has decided that we are no longer going to allow gaming videos on Vimeo. Specifically, we are no longer going to allow game walk-throughs, game strategy videos, depictions of player vs player battles, raids, fraps, or any other video gaming videos that simply depict individuals playing a video game. Videos falling into this category will be subject to deletion as of September 1st; new videos of this type will be removed." Click the above links to read more.

Had only just uploaded my latest movie, posted on it's respective Realm Server and was told to be sure I had backups seeing as Vimeo decided to ban these movie types in the near future.
Would advise anyone who has, or intends, to use Vimeo up until that point to do the same. Personally I think it'll be quite a kick in their teeth, popularity wise - Vimeo boomed when that other stream site, can't even remember the name of it, wen't down as it was the latest new source available for medium//decent quality streams... Now they're restricting it to just Machinima (game wise) and all other content removed? Guess it's back to FileFront and YouTube - Thankfully WCM's own HQ stream is pretty sexy ^^ |

I don't understand why this hasn't become bigger news...

I assume people either have, or are aware, of other sources, or they expect that things will go the same way it did last time... Popular site goes down / reject movie types, another steps in to take over.
I guess Streams will decline in popularity as you can never match the core file quality of a download, and as far as WCM is concerned, it has a super sexy stream anyways. /shrug |
