How to move the camera away from your character
In the latest episode (11) of the World of WoW Podcast, the hosts pine for some sort of functionality that would allow filmmakers to move the camera around and get shots that aren't centered on their character. Such a functionality has existed since retail, and I've known about it for a long time, but I've never told anyone out of fear that Blizzard would nerf it.
For an example of these techniques in action, see my Thaddius video from December of last year: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...71098216616110 So as far as I know, only I (and maybe some of those incredibly bright Swedes from the former Noggaholic) have known about this technique. But I've decided to share this knowledge and hope that Blizzard realizes (or already has realized) that it's an amazing tool for cinematography and can't be exploited for any purpose other than seeing what's on the other side of a wall, which can already be done with a host of class abilities and map/model viewers. I've created a brief educational video on the subject, viewable at either of these links: http://files.filefront.com/camerabob.../fileinfo.html http://stage6.divx.com/user/wasabimi...video/1329889/ Last edited by wasabimilkshake : 06-18-2007 at 07:08 PM. |

Really nice indeed.
Any chance that you could make a little text file of all those commands (with little explanations)? It would make it easier to copy & paste them while making a movie.

You can also use Ornate Spyglass and it will zoom in from whatever point you moved the camera to. It's a nice, quick, smooth zoom in. Baron, a big part of the reason I chose to publicize this was seeing Unlimited Escapism and imagining how such fancy cinematography could be spiced up with this technique in the hands of a capable filmmaker. |

I will most definitely start experimenting with these and see what I can come up with the next UE.
