FRAPS hic-ups/lag problems!

Hey all!

Thought this would be a good way to ask a question, as I recently upgraded my computer and wanted to make some WoW videos. Anyways, I have been having problems with random lag/fps spikes when I record (screen lags out and fps drops). Sucks when it happens while recording, as not only does it play hell with the footage, but it pretty much screws with my game play

Anywho...here are some of the specs

Processor: Intel Quad Core 2.4GHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 (GTS)
2gig ram
Hard Drive: 500gig sata

I record at 30 FPS, Fullscreen, with 1280x960 resolution (tried higher settings but still had the same issues)

My FPS sits at around 60 with everything on

When it records well (which is unfortunately not as often as I like) the quality is superb. However, more often then not, the lag issues pop up and usually gets me killed!

Any Suggestions?

:/

Seeing as that's a beast computer I can't really help much else than to suggest you make sure you don't have any things running while recording such as antivirus programs and the windows search indexing service.

Especially the stupid indexing service.

Alright, that may be it...I usually run WMP and Vent when FRAPSing

As to the index service (just in case) how do I turn that sucker off?

Thanks for the quick replies and help though, much appreciated

Think its the one under control panel/Administrative tools/services/Indexing service.

If it's on, turn it off and try frapsing.

Thing is.. even if some app decides to do something now and then which takes a lot of cpu your quad core should be able to keep fraps/wow running smoothly.

I'm at a loss.
