little problem with avi encoding
Ok so I have a little problem. I fraps at a resolution of 1152*864 and encode it at the same resolution to an avi Xvid file using the guide thiras wrote.
This however is the result: The reason that it's so messed up is because of a not high enough bitrate while encoding the second pass. In vegas I put the targeted bitrate to 4000. However I don't get 4000 in my endresult and I can't figure out why. Here is my vegas settings for the second pass: Here is what I get after rendering: As you can see that's not what I asked for in vegas. If I use higher bitrates the result is the same and the filesize goes up but even when I put it on 10000 kbps I still don't get a bitrate over 1000kbps according to windows. And here is a pic from Gspot: This doesn't happen when I encode on a lower resolution like 800*600 but ofc then the quality goes down and I don't want that to happen. Hope anyone can help me out. I don't have this problem encoding in wmv but I really want to figure out what the problem is. I am a bigger fan of avi encoding cause I think it gives better results. |

quality shouldn't go down with 800*600 and let's say 5000kbits
I had the same problem when I tried to encode with 1152*864, but 800*600 works fine. I haven't tried 1025*768, maybe that works too?

This is not related to bitrate (And no, the one in windows can't be trusted, it only shows the bitrate at the start of the movie, which could be 10k or 200 or whatever).
I bet my epic flyer that it's because divx is decoding it and divx doesnt decode xvids GMC properly (see that lit up button in gspot labeled GMC?). Either you can reencode the video without using gmc (its in the xvid options) or uninstall divx from your system (which you wont need since xvid can decode divx movies) |
