I want to hear what you think of this:

I am slowly putting a roleplay, pvp video together. I have been watching some videos and I have come across a personal dilemma.

I notice we see 2 types of videos often.

1. Excellent editing , the film looks great.

2. Really low editing effort put in , raw pvp ownage.

I want to start with a bang in the first camp.

The dilemma I am in: I had planned during the intro and through the first video I was going to run clips of things that have influenced me over the years as a player. (such as small overlays during fights) From anime, to street fighter clips. Yet I am hesitant, on the one hand I want to give nods to these things on the other, some of the work then is clearly not my own.

Would anime/ culture references mixed into a video *well* be acceptable to you personally? Or does it need to be from start to finish all my own work?

It's your film. You get to decide what to do with it. Sometimes you have to take a risk, which can make you a legend or an [EXPLICIT]. To me, it sounds like a nice idea. They (the public) would get a good idea what to expect from this film so they wont be disappointed at the end of the film.
Although a too quick montage at the beginning could scare them away.
