Xvid problem in Adobe Premiere
So I got this movie finished edited, and I would like to do 2 things - to get it into one video file and to compress it. I thought about maybe compressing the clips before I added them to the movie but was a little late and I wanna see if I can get a movie with just as good quality anyway?
I'm having problems with premiere, as this is my first time and I cant seem to find any howtos to get the finished project out to a finished movie anywhere, so I am trying myself by saving the entire work area, export it as a movie saving it as microsoft avi(i kinda dont know if the others work(or even if this one work heh)) and compressing with Xvid. the problem is - Xvid freeze out everytime i start it. Screenshot under, using unrestricted + single pass and tried everything from medium to maximum quality same result nothing - last night I let it try the entire night while sleeping but was the same in the morning - nothing just the same freeze window. Anyone know what to do? thanks |

Save it with the huffyuv codec (google it) and then compress it with xvid in virtualdub or some such :p

What it looks like is that you have then Encoding status box checked which causes me to freeze when I render with it.
1. Open the Xvid configuration. 2. On the bottom there should be a button that says "Other Options". Click it to open a new window. 3. Uncheck the "Display Encoding Status" Box. 4. try rendering again. |

Thanks both for ur reply, I first checked the Xvid settings but the box was not checked - no difference. However I did download the huffyuv codec and that worked - so now i got a file. however yeah another problem hehe
the file is 20 gigs(and as the codec stated, quality is prime as it was before, i get to see 2-3 seconds of it tho only), i can start it in VLC / VirtualDub however my computer doesnt seem to be able to handle it as when I try to do anything with it (play / compress) the program exits with an error. Even explorer exits if i try to open the folder it is in well i my comp isnt that old but fair enough not the best at all, tho i tried it at my roomies comp and he had the same problems cept for the explorer.exe error. tips? I know I can compress the files before i place them in premiere however im searching for a way to avoid redoing the entire move thanks! |

So are you saying Virtualdub exits when you try to open it in there?
If so Try deleting the Virtualdub folder and redownloading it.http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ |

Ok, try installing AviSynth:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/avi...0&big_mirror=0 Make a new text file in the same folder as the huffyuv film, and write this in the file: AVISource("Filename.avi") Save the text file as anything ending with .avs and open that in virtualdub. Try compressing again. |

its still not working, however it is only the xvid codec that doesnt work - when i try other ones such as divx etc it works.
i got the 20 gig file down to 2gigs using divx, and using divx again to get it down to like 200mb. heh. i am curious about the result and not in a positive way but ive tried to remove the codec and reinstalling, cant seem to get it working. |
