Problem with rendering codec

Im kinda new with movie making so please bear with me as i try to explain my best.

I am creating a movie filmed with FRAPS @ 1680 x 1050 widescreen. I have set all my progect settings to proporly match the footage.

I set my xvid codec to match thoes setting on the guide that Thiras has posted, when i go to save it for the first pass render, i get the message
"An error occurred while creating the media file Test.avi."
"No Compatable Video Codec was found"

I have downloaded and installed the codec, but still cant get it to work.
Is there a specific place where the codec needs to be installed ?

What are you using to render it out in?

hmm guess that would of been good info to share, im using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8.0
