Chroma Keying (Modeler+Vegas) by Fairydust

Okay, so I'm new to this forum but I'm not so new to editing all in all! Thou I just learned about Chroma Keying a while back I think I can effectivly use it by this time and I thought I should share it as a little guide here and a nice way to say "Hello".

Okay, here we go...

1)
First of, start your 'Model Viewer'.
__________________________________________________ __________________________

2)
Then insert your creature or whatever it is that you want to be superimposed.
__________________________________________________ __________________________

3)
When that is done you have to change your background color to a color that is NOT on your character/creature... the reason for this is when you Chroma Key the effect removes a specific color. So if you got a green dress use blue background and if you got a blue dress use green background, you get my point. (Only works with Green/Blue/Red)
__________________________________________________ __________________________

4)
The option for this is 'View' then 'Background Color..'
__________________________________________________ __________________________
5)
Where it says 'Red', 'Green' and 'Blue' just enter 255 for the color you want as your background and the other 2 should be set to 0.
__________________________________________________ __________________________

6)
Now record you're thingy with fraps and when you're done it's time to head over to Video Vegas!
__________________________________________________ __________________________

Okay... we're here in Video Vegas and we're going to start our Chroma Keying!
__________________________________________________ __________________________

7)
You can start by opening your two clips that you're going to chroma key. The higher layer should be the model with the green/blue background and the lower one is the one you want as background, Onyxia's Lair or whatever.
__________________________________________________ __________________________

8.)
After this it is as simple as just pressing ALT+8 for Video FX, then in the list find "Chroma Keyer".
__________________________________________________ __________________________

9)
Now pick the same color of the effect as your background, so if you got a green background pick 'Pure Green Screen'
__________________________________________________ __________________________

Nice, I guess this is the only way u can have to creatures at the same time, in model viewer, unless you use some editing program, like adobe. If there is an easier way to post two models, at the same time, it would be nice to know ;-)

There isn't really any easier way this guide pretty much sums it up.

If it wasn't, I'd say nobody would pay thousand dollars for it...
Look at "Effects -> Video Effects -> Keying" and try what works best. Chroma Key as mentioned above with Vegas should be one possibility, but you can also try Blue/Green Screen Keying or Color Key (which should work with every RGB-Color, opening up more possibilities if your character has both green and blue clothes). Figure out yourself what works best for your needs and play around a bit with all the settings
