Streaming Views

Heya i have a video up on WCM and i was just wondering how the new streaming works with views because, as far as i was aware i only got a view when somebody downloaded it or followed the link to the stream, now that the stream is there on the page does this mean i will get a view everytime somebody goes onto the page, or do i just not get any views anymore unless they download it?, if it is the second option it seems to me that you would be hurting the authors more than helping...
