Speed up clip & shorten film time - Vegas
I am brand new to creating videos and learning a bit as I go. The one thing that has stumped me (even after reading online a bunch of different tutorials) is how do I speed up a clip (long durations) and have Vegas shorten it in proportion.
What happened with me is I tried to speed up a clip 250%, while previewing (and rendered) it sped up the entire clip, but with the remaining time started loop footage to fill up the difference in time. What I would like to do is say for example a base clip is 5 minutes long and accelerate a decent portion of it (lets say 200%) and got the clip down to 3 minutes. Is there a way to have Vegas shorten the clip length from when the initial clip ends so it doesn't loopback to fill the time. Just to add, I was using velocity to speed up the footage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards |

You're not the first to ask.... I suppose that it's Sony Vegas ur using, if it's not then this guide won't help u. Anyways if ur using sony vegas u can see with that guide how to speed up a clip.
To shorten a clip down is really really simple. U can either to the way I describe to cut clips, a bit harder method. Or u can do it the easy way. 1. Click on one side of the section of the movie you want to make shorter. 2. See to it that u got the square one and not the semicircle one. 3. Drag it to the where u want the clip to end. If you got snapping enabled, u usually do, u will automatically get "stuck" when u come to where the first clip ends. You will see what I mean when U try it. It may seem hard when u read, but try a little for urselves and u will reallise it's pretty easy. Hope it helps.

For some reason when I try that it either cuts the video off completely or just speeds through and loops it.
I guess what I am trying to do is if with speed I have a 3 minute and 15 second clip from a 5 minute clip, is there a way to have Vegas automatically shorten the original clip length, rather then having to cut out the remaining clip myself? |
