Ready to edit - but how should I start?

So I have a bunch of raw FRAPS files (read: uncompressed and gigantic)

I also have Adobe Premier Pro ready to go

So, my question is, do I just edit the raw files (import them into Premier and go from there) or compress the files and then edit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time!

i use vegas, but i think its nearly the same.
take the raw files and compress them with rendering.
