I cannot offer any advice on SV as I use Adobe. However...I can offer some advice on what I work with.
Personally, I use the approach of a Foley producer. I do not record any sounds or tones from any action shots I record. I add the sounds, speech and sfx tones after I have achieved the edited footage I wish to use. Most of the audio editing is composed side by side with the video. I use Acid Pro and Mixmeister to bank all my audio [sometimes exceeding 40 + sounds] to one track and then rip to the desired bitrate mp3. Then insert the mp3 into my video editor as one solid piece. |

I use Sony Vegas 8. In order to make another audio track, I right-click the properties "section" to the left of an existing audio track. There should be an option for "Insert audio track" or some such.
I'm sorry I don't have a screenshot to illustrate this, since my video editor's on another computer. |

Or you can just drag a song or a audio clip in the empty field and you will get another audiotrack.

Havent tried it myself but I think you have to render your audiotracks as seperate mp3's and then combine the video with the dual audiotracks in DVD Architect
