Frames loading early

Anyone know how I can stop my frames from loading early? What I mean is that if I have blank space for the first 5 seconds of my movie and then have actual footage start at the 5 second mark, the first frame of the footage is shown for those first 5 seconds and then it plays. I want the first 5 seconds to be a black screen, not a still image.

Indeed, 1x1 pixel black image will do the job just fine!

I tried putting a black image in the gaps but the frames are still loading before I want them to.
