Help pls with video size

hi, Iam a n00b in making videos, my problem: I download full verzion fraps, ist recording in verry nice kvality but it have verry big size, please give me hint how to make this video folder smaller, but still in good kvality. I try to konfirm it in some order formats (now in .avi) but it definitly destroy kvality. please help
