Cant render, error with codecs?

Hi, I've look up sevral guides on how to render so the quality is good but the size of my movie/series arnt that huuuge. And everything has worked fine until 5minutes ago. I loaded my usuall Templet and pressed "save" then it renders for 2seconds and, bing, error:
"An error occurred while creating the media file Idle Intro.Avi."
"An error occurred while converting with a codec"
I have downloaded DivX 6.6 and a codec package just to be on the save side. But nothing seems to remove this blasted error that gets in the way for my movie making.

I'll be more then happy for any help or tips

are you using any codec pack ?
I recommend you uninstall all codecs and install them again ONE BY ONE
and no codec pack ( that is if you're using a codec pack )

To be honest most people go wrong with codec packs when edting
A codec pack comes with f.e. with 5 versions of DIVX 3 of XVID
.4 MPEG codecs. No wonder you're NLE program trips it doesn't know which one to choose...
especially vegas

I suggest your REMOVE ALL INSTALLED CODECS

then download

DIVX
http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/

XVID
http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ ( I use this one but any other is also fine )

WMV

You should do just fine with those codecs installed
to edit and play all your video files
