Rendering Sizes

Question: I followed fony's guide in how to make a pvp intro on how to render my videos

i had the same issue as him, my videos were being saved at half resolution

well now after some hardware changes and an updated version of fraps, my videos are being recorded and big and pretty 1680x1050

now, when i render, should i be rendering at the 840x524 for file size purposes? and if so, how would i up the quality, cuz they look pretty bad when i do that

if i render them at 1680x1050 i can only imagine that it would give some people's computers trouble, or the file would be unnecessarily large

if i render with Divx, i tried it at all 3 of the different preset rendering hd sizes, and with each size i get letterboxes in different spots.

so if im going to render with Divx, how should i set it up so there are no letterboxes? quality was always good with divx render

if im just gonna render wmv style, should i just go straight 1680x1050? or is there something i missed to make the small video higher quality

sorry for the long question =P thanks in advance for help

Put up both as separate mirrors (LQ/HQ), and use xvid instead.

do one at 840x524 and one at 1680x1050 with xvid instead of divx?

http://files.filefront.com/LQtestavi.../fileinfo.html

thats the one at 840x524

and actually, when i rendered with Xvid, the videos at 1680x1050 wouldnt work, itd render, but id get no video, no sound, just space being taken

not sure why that happened, but thats the LQ one, maybe you get enough info from that =P

Plays just fine on my computer, think you have a decoder problem there.

Try running the file through Gspot then push the button labeled "1" under "MS A/V" there at the bottom of the program. Tell me what it returns.

well it plays just fine, im just looking for maximum quality without getting a huge filesize.

i try that

EDIT: i just rendered one with divx under the 1280x720 HDV profile, this was the result

the quality seems higher, file size is also bigger, but the letter boxes arent as apparent when played with VLC, might show up with with windows media player

tell me what ya think thiras

Letterboxes are bad.

1280x720 is bad when your game is at 1680x1050, either use half or full.

Xvid > divx when properly configured (use the unrestricted profile in xvid)
