How to make stuff explode

Well i am thinking of making a PvP/machinima style movie.
I need to make stuff explode e.g. like the the mountain explodes and pieces breeak off it.
Any programs that can help me do that?

If you don't know how, your in for a real eye opener. This isn't an easy feat.
My best suggestion to you is add real footage of an explosion to what your wanting. Depending on what type of explosion, you really don't have to expose the "full" scene and just import a fraction of the explosion. Blue screen it and overlap the footage.
Otherwise, you are talking about using particles. That is a tough tough thing to produce. You could take something like Particle Illusion or Particle View and Frap's the particle you want then import it to your editor.
