bah!! how do you get into the beta!! all it says is it has been "applied". is it luck? or is it who gets their form in the fastest

You apply for the beta. In some of the first phases they only got around 10 000 people. And I think around 200 000 applied, so the chances that you got accepted is slim. Also, there are those who won on the newsletter who got in. So take 10 000 minus those who won contests and you got very few spots.
It's luck+comp. They will take in a few of all different comps to try how the game plays on different comps. They also choose depending on what u checked in the application and such. We could say maybe around 75% luck and 25% their choice.

I would expect around 3% of those who applied will get into the first rounds.
