streaky lines

What causes these lines in this short clip. They dont show when i encoded as wmv but when i try avi (mainly want to do divx) i get these streaky lines.

That's because your encoding is interlaced. Look for something like Interlaced encoding and make sure it's turned off and also make sure that your field order is set to None(progressive scan). That should solve it
