SONY VEGAS: How do i lower and increase sound in certain parts of the movie>?

thats the question - ive watched several tutorials that talk about how to insert sound but not how to increase and lower for certain parts -

And next question - if i record a clip in WOW for example that has sound - and then i drop it in SOny Vegas - how do i delete JUST the sound portion and not the video portion too?> ive tried hitting delete over the sound but it deletes the video file above it also

You need to play with envelopes. Select the envelope tool, right click the volume track, insert volume envelope, right click, add point to the blue volume line and drag the line up or down between points to change the volume of the selection. You can select different preset curves or do it all manually. I've only tinkered with it myself so can't be more precise i'm afraid. Search the PDF manual for "envelopes" and it should get you started. Then its just a case of experimenting...
