Hello can I post this here?

Hello.
Sounds like to me you might be experiencing a high number of errors during the reading, causing the burner to throttle back to pio mode.. An easy way to check is to right click on "My computer" left click "properties" and then open the "hardware " tab and then "device manager" and then open "secondary IDE channel and then "Advanced settings" if it shows your device is running in Pio Mode, you need to change it back to DMA. (Ultra DMA mode 2) ok i checked this before and during my DVD ripping. both times it showed the current transfer mode as being "Ultra DMA mode 2". however you could of been right with the read errors thing, because it did have a bunch of small scrathes. i just "backed up" another one of my DVDs right now and it started off at 5,700 KB/s and after a few minutes increased all the way to 7,900!!! the total completion time at the end was 17 min flat, whereas that first one was 30 min. AMAZING. you guys have been a great help.Nephilim i will definetly heed your suggestion on investing in a Lite-On DVD reader solely for my ripping needs. i just hope it will perform as fast, if not more, than my Plextor.

I am always wondering what to do and what not to do so I follow some of these tips.

Hello.PAL to NTSC problem. -
Hi all ive been a frequent visitor to these forums for over about 1 year but never registered because every problem ive had was answered. but now im in a state where enything i try i cant get it to work.I bought a dvd from America and i can play it fine on my dvd player at home, but a friend wants to watch it and i was going to make him a backup of it, but when using DVD shrink it fails to recognise the disk, i have a full work ASPI layer, and the drive is multi region, it opens the disk as usual but when i try and click backup it crashes and locks the PC up.Is there a setting in DSVD shrink that i am missing! or is it my pc that is duff. im able to make backups of all my other dvd's region 2 PAL but unable to make backups of NTSC, it dosnt matter if it is NTSC just the region i want ot change.Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks to all
