Fraps problem, need help.

Hey there, ive been a user of wcm for sometime but its my 1st post here.

Recently i finally bought a new pc, so now im thinking about starting making my own pvp movies. But i have 1 problem, around 3 days ago i downloaded a trial version of fraps just to try it out check its quality etc. So yesterday i got a full version from a p2p program and the weirdest thing happened wich was when i start fraps the program doesnt start, it doesnt respond at all. I unistalled it downloaded a diferent version (slightly older one) and same thing happened.

After this i uninstalled fraps again and re-instaled the trial version, and for my surprise everything was working fine. So the trial version works fine on my pc, but whenever i instal a full client the program doesnt respond.

I am really desperate because i want to start making my movies and this just makes it impossible. Anyone who has been or is with the same problem?

Dunno if it can be related to hardware conflicts but my pc is as follows:

Intel Core2 Duo E6850 fsb 1333Mhz 4MB cache
2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800
EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB DDR3 PCIe (graphic card)
Evga nforce 680i SLI (motheboard)

I hope someone can help me on this one

Its not the computer....
Sure you binded the start recording to a key?

Yeah i did, ive used fraps before on my old pc, just didnt made any movie because pc was bad and it was unplayable. As i said the trial works fine its just the full version that this happens

Theres your problem. Fraps has a key system which prevents the program from starting if it's a nonauthentic version installed after you've already had the trial. Buy it or live without it ;/

So probably the only way would be to format windows?

Also, if this doenst work are there any other good capture programs? I wanted Fraps cause everyone told me its the best but i can use another if possible.

Yep, you'd have to format windows or buy fraps.

No, there is no really good alternative. Gamecam works I suppose.

I had that problem myself at one time, if you google around the system is in regedit and if you're willing to toy with it, you can make it work. Although I'm sure if I divulge any more info that'd be to the extent of stealing a program or whatnot. I just suggest buying the full thing.

Fraps > gamecam, but gamecam is good as well
