View Full Version : Looking for machinima artists

neogeek

I am trying to contact machinima artists who are interested in getting their work shown FOR FREE at a film festival.

BOTH posts have been deleted as advertising spam (though I was only warned after the second post). This particular forum seems to be where folks look for writers, actors, voicework, etc. Is there no place in these forums to talk about film festivals in which we can participate?? Why is this considered spam??

If not, what other sites would offer such discussions?

EDIT: Here's more information as I've since been given approval to post this:
http://www.neositesolutions.com/gaming/dc07machinima.htm

The deadline is coming up so get your submissions in! ;)

You can advertise but you have to get admin's permission first. PM Uzbeki or Gedan.

You can see that in the rules here http://www.mmorpgforum.net/showthread.php?t=13

Mostly the rule is because we DON'T want gold advertisements and account trading on here this forum is for movies, Movie discussion..ect.. It's not for linking other sites on.

Thanks! I'll give you a shout. (Though... I'm not sure what you mean by "If you want a lvl 70 female nightelf druid". I'm looking for folks who want to submit their completed videos to the film festival.)

I see you have quite a few. Which do you think would be your best given the below criteria?

"Please keep in mind that the audience may be unfamiliar with the game in which the machinima was made and there will be no opportunities to 'introduce' your video - it must stand on it's own. Successful candidate videos will entertain and engage the audience without requiring knowledge of the game world in question (a clear and engaging story line, an entertaining music video, etc.). Videos made to show how quickly you and your friends can kill a boss and/or how effectively you have mastered the particular game's mechanics are unlikely to be selected."

Thanks. :) I don't think I actually included a link to ANYWHERE. Just noted that there was a new machinima segment to this year's DragonCon Film Festival and that I was looking for video submissions and speakers/panelists (or recommendations for either).

Regardless, I am almost done with a web page that details everything and will be sure to ask Uzbeki/Gedan if I may post information and a link to it (or maybe they would even be willing to post the banner link - like the "Azeroth Exposed" contest banner was posted around). I just wanted folks here to have a chance to submit their work if they were interested since this is such an active machinima community.

Thanks again for the clarification! :)

Thanks! I'll take a look!

Edit: Oops! Sorry. It's way too long. We'll have an hour to show a number of videos so the limit is no more than 10 minutes per video. Sorry I don't have all the details here on submissions. As I noted above, my previous attempts at giving the details were removed.

Nice story and work though, especially in the time frame you noted. ;)

Something Strange (http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=36204) and World of Starcraft (http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=36041) are both pretty cool. World of Starcraft may however be hard to understand for an audience that's not familiar with WoW (no need for starcraft, never played the game).

While Something Strange is really what it says, something really strange. It's a movie I put together out of some random music and some cool clips. Out of the two clips I would recommand Something Strange.

I will however soon put together my last movie, all I need is some good voice acting and I'm done. This movie will be able to standout alone and is a kind of parody on the idea behind WoW. It's based on the endless race to get the best gear, it's pretty simple and short. Based on a anecdote.

Will see if I can finish it soon, been waiting for voice acting for 1-2 months now. Maybe some1 could help? (it's just a 2 minute long clip, with 2 guys talking, will go fast to record).

Well, then :) If it's too long, then take a look at this little one I made http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=34181

I tried to make Bleach opening 5 in WoW version, and I think it's pretty good :)

It's from Monty Python - The Holy Grail. I do believe it's after they kill the "killer rabbit" with the holy handgrenade. They enter a cave and find that written on the wall is some text ending with "Aaaauuuggghhhh".

Indeed :top:

Brother Maynard: It reads, "Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Aramathia. He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the holy grail in the Castle of Aaauuuggghhh...”
King Arthur: What?
Brother Maynard: "The Castle of Aaaauuuggghhhh"
Sir Bedevere: What is that?
Brother Maynard: He must have died while carving it.
King Arthur: Oh come on!
Brother Maynard: Well, that's what it says.
King Arthur: Look, if he was dying, he wouldn't have bothered to carve 'Aaaauuuggghhhh'. He'd just say it.
Sir Galahad: Maybe he was dictating it.
King Arthur: Oh shut up!

If it's not to late, and you still need something > http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=31298
and
http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=25647

It even isnt a true machinima, it's more like to show some stuff about WoW to the audience :) Also I know it's too long, so I would be able to cut something :)

neogeek

Heh! On the first one, yeah - a *bit* too long ;) and I'm really after more storyline-ish work. (But interesting nonetheless. Wish I'd known about it a few months ago ;) )

But, if you'll get me access to a high quality version, 'Unfaithful' will be submitted for competition.

Also - here's more information:

Neogeek! The Dragon*Con Festival is over. Do you have anything to tell from it? How was the crowd's reaction(s) on the machinima?

I'd like to hear what they said, or if there's any videos I could watch, it'd be lovely.

Hey there! Sorry so long in responding (and sorry it seems I've missed more than one message here!!).

I've got the rundown linked from the original submission information page but here's the direct link with lists of machinima and links to most. (http://www.neositesolutions.com/gaming/dc07machinima_post.htm)

Things went very well and I'll be doing it again next year! ;)

Thanks for your submissions!
